Rafael Behr
Rafael is a political journalist and broadcaster. He writes a weekly political column for the Guardian, for which he has won an Editorial Intelligence Comment award. His work has also been published in the Times, Sunday Times, New York Times and Prospect magazine. He is a regular commentator on BBC and Sky News. Rafael was formerly Political Editor for the New Statesman, chief leader writer for the Observer, a business writer for BBC News online and a foreign correspondent for the Financial Times, based in Russia and the Baltic region.
His book, POLITICS: A SURVIVOR’S GUIDE, was published in 2023 and was chosen as a 2023 Non-Fiction highlight in the Guardian, New Statesman and Irish Times.
Rafael lives in Brighton with his family. He plays guitar and harmonica, sometimes simultaneously, not always successfully, in a local blues band.
