Harry was born and raised in Kirkcaldy, went to university at Edinburgh and Oxford, and lives in London. His jobs have included stints as a hospital theatre orderly (five months), wine merchant’s van driver (three weeks) and literary editor of the Sunday Times (three years). Since he resigned from that last job in 1995, he has “worked”, as his two sons say, as a freelance journalist and author. He has published six books for grown-ups – two novels and four non-fiction. His debut children’s novel, The Joke Detectives, is represented by Rachel Petty.
