Send us your creative work
What we are looking for
We welcome all submissions and consider everything that is sent to the agency. We are currently focused on commercial and reading group fiction, including thrillers, crime, mysteries, historical, women’s, accessible literary, children’s and YA fiction.
Our agency is particularly well suited to authors wishing to make a career of their writing. We welcome approaches from both debut writers and established authors.
How to send us your work
We prefer submissions to be sent by email as a Word Document, clearly laid out and readable. Please send us the first ten pages of your manuscript with a one page synopsis by email to: [email protected].
In your covering letter we’d like to hear what drives you as a writer, who your writing is for (your target market) and the genre of your writing, any competitions or prizes you have won, and how best to get in contact with you.
We are looking for a strong voice and writing that stands out and makes us read on. If we’re drawn into the first ten pages we’ll read the synopsis to see how the story develops and unfolds.
We’re very happy to receive submissions from overseas, as long as they’re written in English.
If you’d rather send us a printed hard copy, please make sure you include your full contact details and a stamped, self-addressed envelope so that we can send your work back to you if necessary. Please send your work to: TBP, PO Box 7828, London W1A 4GE.
Due to the volume of submissions that we receive we can only store your work for one month after which we will recycle it.
You’ve written a series of books – should you submit all of them?
We love a great series but they all need to start with a brilliant first book. Please send us the first ten pages of the first book and give us an overview of the series in your covering note.
Our turnaround time
You should expect to hear from us within 8-10 weeks of us receiving your work. If you haven’t heard from us after that time, please make sure you check your junk folders as emails can occasionally get mistaken for junk mail by some email servers, then please feel free to email us and follow up. If you are sending us your work on an exclusive basis, let us know and we can prioritise it.
Sending detailed feedback
If we like your work, we will ask to see more material and then contact you to discuss it. If we have decided not to offer representation on the basis of the material you’ve sent in, we will reply with a brief note. Unfortunately, we are unable to send detailed critiques. However, if we have asked you to send us your manuscript in full, we’ll always try to give you some specific feedback on your work.
